Medical Waste Consulting

Medical waste, categorised largely by the types of materials uses and the waste disposal methods. Medical Waste Consulting  In general, in the UK medical waste is separated into two main types: hazardous and non-hazardous. In the US and other parts of the world, there are four major types of medical waste: General, Infectious, Hazardous and Radioactive. Medical waste is any waste that is generated as a by-product of healthcare work at doctor’s surgeries, dentists, hospitals and laboratories. It includes any material that could come into contact with the body during diagnosis, research, drug administration or any type of treatment. Medical waste is a subset of wastes generated at health care facilities, such as hospitals, physicians' offices, dental practices, blood banks, and veterinary hospitals/clinics, as well as medical research facilities and laboratories. Generally, medical waste is healthcare waste that that may be contaminated by blood, body fluids or other potentially infectious materials and is often referred to as regulated medical waste. Medical waste incineration is the process of burning specific wastes, including pathological, trace chemotherapy and non-hazardous pharmaceutical wastes as it is considered the safest, most effective means of treatment and prevents harm to the environment and our health in general.  The disposal of medical waste generated from COVID-19 patients undergoes a strict treatment protocol to contain the spread of the virus. Medical waste is being disposed at safe sites quickly to limit any possibility of the viral spread. Firefighters have been deployed to ensure quick disposal at waste designated sites where the environment protection department safely disposes off the waste.  Medical waste is a source of generation of hazardous biomedical waste. Medical waste generation and disposal is an important aspect, especially in countries with poor hygiene and high population. Medical centers including hospitals, clinics, and places where diagnosis and treatment are conducted generate wastes that are highly hazardous and put people under risk of fatal diseases.
