Medical Waste Compliance
All human activities produce waste. We all know that such waste
may be dangerous and needs safe disposal. Industrial waste, sewage and
agricultural waste pollute water, soil and air. It can also be dangerous to
human beings and environment. Medical Waste Compliance Similarly, hospitals and other health care
facilities generate lots of waste which can transmit infections, particularly
HIV, Hepatitis B & C and Tetanus, to the people who handle it or come in
contact with it.The number of persons infected with the coronavirus disease
(COVID-19) is continuously rising throughout the world. In these circumstances,
waste management, including of hazardous, medical, and household waste is of
extreme importance. During the viral outbreak, many types of additional medical
and hazardous waste are generated including infected masks, gloves, syringes,
samples, and other protective equipment, drain bags, urine bags, body fluid or
blood-soaked tissues/cotton, empty ampules etc. Medical waste and household
waste, when mixed, can create secondary impact upon the health of the community
at large and the environment. Unsound management of this waste could cause
unforeseen “knock-on” effects on human health and the environment and
therefore, safe-handling and disposal of such waste is essential.
